- end of summer carnival is scheduled for August 9th @ 1:00
- if you're interested in volunteering. Set up is 11:30/12:00 - 1:00 and clean up is 3:00-4:00
- Teed Advisory Website
- interest in having a photo page to post event pictures
- have to check with web page IT person to see if this is possible.
- add a photo page to the teen pages - there is a photo album linked to main library pages
- is this something that is wanted/needed - there is a need to keep members updated if they miss meetings.
- worth the time and effort - creating a brand new site might not be worth it as there is not a lot of information.
- suggestion redesign Teen Scene blog as the Teen Advisory site and make the Teen Scene a link on the library's teen homepage.
- Teen Scene would be posted as PDFs on the library's site so its a one click
- this should be able to work - I'll make the switch tomorrow.
- Thinking ahead - ideas for fall
- ideas for fall - currently brainstorming
- requests for
- lock-ins (we'll be doing these same as always
- book club - requesting an interest in snacks (popcorn) at this, looking to hold in monthly in the evening (after 5:30), age range will be 14+ - request to change this to 13+ not a problem, looking at popular fiction - crossover books.
- more teen advisory events only - will do currently BN visits are on the schedule for September and March. Other events can be discussed.
- mentioned ideas that sparked interest
- jeopardy/trivia night
- book tasting - similar to a food tasting - a variety of books laid out for people to browse. Can add food to this event. Also a blind tasting where we wrap the books in paper and only give the title and author to see if they would be checked out. Kids would be able to check out books at this. Could link it to a BN buying trip, new books or just what is in the collection
- life-size game - draw out the board on the library floor and play like you would the board game.
- pre-release party for Hunger Games or Divergent
- Book to movie club - read and watch the movie then discuss.
- Caricature drawing classes - would require funding but I'll look into this (tried to do this year but funding fell through)
- film scavenger hunt - give out flip cameras and have to film items on a list
- read-a-thon - to either raise money or read to do an event like bowling
- bowling - trip to the bowling alley - not sure can get funding, how is this a literary event
- talent show - hard to put together
- mentalist/hypnotist/paranormal expert
- teen read week - we will do this but its going to need some real work to make it better than last year (which was a flop)
- book signing trip - have an author visit us (its expensive don't know if it can be done) or visit a store/library that has an author visiting.
- pizza making party
- story game - using a variety of books, roll the dice for which book, the page number and the sentence # on that page. Using the results see if we can create a story of our own.
- variety of other ideas mention but didn't garner much enthusiasm

Book Talk
by Patrick Carman
Another great story along the lines of the Hunger Games and Divergent. Faith lives outside the states, where the world is slowly
withering away. As her friends begin to enter the states, Faith's life begins to
change, even more than she knows. Faith meets Dylan another who will always live outside. It is Dylan who show Faith that she can
move objects with her mind. Discovering a "pulse" is life altering for Faith and enters her in a battle she didn't even know was going
on. It's a exciting story that was hard to put down. Definitely worth the time.
It is a fantastic read that you don't want to miss.
